I have noticed that in the morning driving to work the outside temp is about 58 degrees and my ect will not go above 180 even after 25 miles on the highway. the last two days the outside temp driving home has been almost 90 degrees and my ect will go as high as 216 during easy acceleration to 65mph from 45mph. Do those temp seem right or is my thermostat sticking on me? Is it OK to use a thermostat from Napa or auto zone or should you stick with oem?
I changed mine on the weekend and got a Stant from O'Rileys. Seems to be working well. Ford part is good quality but I don't think it's as important to use OEM Tstat as it is for filters.

Not arguing but the t-stat is one of the cheapest, cost and quality, items and yet most important items your engine has in it. You have a 15,000 dollar engine depending on a 25 dollar part for its life blood.
I like to use oem i was just wondering in case oem wasnt availabe except to order. Im doing the blue spring update and wanted to get both done to save some time. Thanks for the quick replies.
Used to be you could judge quality by the name on the box but most companies seem to make/sell products with the profit margin as first consideration. Hard to tell what you are buying these days even if you take it out of the box and inspect it before you buy. Even the old fall back indicator -price- cant be trusted anymore.
you have that right Rusty all anyone cares about is Money anymore
All these manufactures dont make anything to Last
Auto manufactures are Makeing all these trucks to have to have special programing for new parts
Like a Ford 6.7L injector has to be Programmed to the PCM if changed so ALL of us that would changea Injector Basicaly Cant even if you could if that makes sense
Its Not Just Ford or auto manufactures either My Kids have Had every Play station and X-Box and PSP and Wii ever Made
All these game consols are only designed to last 1.5-2 years as the manufactures figure at that point your kids would of had it for 2 CHRISTMASES and by then have a Fairly BIG collection of games so then most will either Buy a New Game Consol or send it in to get fixed at just about the same cost as a New One. These consols are just like are trucks FICM buy a replacement new one its going to Fail again send for a rebuild and you have alot better odds same as sending FICM to ED
FWIW these Game consols have Bad solder joints to they Fail same as our FICM does
My Atari from the 1980s still works so do the Games this proves they can build a reliable unit just no money in reliability
Everthings just built in a way so the manufacture can stay inyour POCKETS
Small Buisness are the Only ones that really care if they do care at all
Look at how much money a 30 year Morgage Note will cost you. Shure the Bank should make some profit but its beyond that WAY WAY WAY WAY Beyond that Its Legalized Theift Its like 150% Profit margin for the Banks and thats if you got Low Grab your Ankles with NO KY Jelley Rate LOL
I guess that's another good reason to stay active here at FTE, swapping info on which parts and services are good (or not so much). Information helps and the enternet is full of it .
