Operating Temp

Whenever the outside ambient temp is below 50 degrees my truck never reaches operating temp. When it is a warmer day it does okay. I believe the thermostat is just stuck open, but I wanted some other opinions before I changed it. This is my 1st diesel and haven't worked on many of them. Just used to working on gas engines.

How are you checking operating temperature? If the temp doesn't climb over 190 it's probably stuck.

Thumbs up

I noticed last week on an 60 degree day I was running 180 degrees down the highway. Changed the thermostat and now on a 40 degree day I come up to 190 around town. I obviously had a bad thermostat. Hope that info helps.

Luckily the t-stats seem to be more prone to sticking open rather than closed.
