About ready to insert the large U channel in the new metal window channels. What side goes towards the outside? It looks like the window 'whiskers' are a little lower on one side of the channel versus the other.
I have never seen felts like that, I know that they have different varieties it's just that I have only seen/used those that have the glass slot dead in the center of the whiskers.
Sounds like it's time to find new felts. I know a number of sources for them here locally but that won't help you on the East coast. Should be someone local to you who carries them. The strips I buy are 8 ft long and a little pricey to ship. Here are a couple of pics of the felt I use and the tool that I made to shape it without kinking it. The stainless bead can present a problem if you don't have a way to hold the curve while bending it.
Today I tried to install new nylon window rollers in the extended window lifts from MidFifty. After struggling to get them in the lifts, they don't roll. In fact, there is so much pressure from the spring, they appear slightly compressed. I installed the window regulators anyway to test fit the newly cut window and it kept binding because the lifts do not slide very well. Are there any tricks to getting these to roll?
Hey y'all. I can't believe your conversation stopped at the roller install. I have a '54 panel and trying to change to one piece side glass.. It was in a body shop for other reasons but the couldn't figure out how to install and work properly. My right window wants to tilt in as it is rolled up and runs out of track. The glass will also tilt forward, towards the windshield, as it goes up. It is very difficult to roll up and gets in a bind. I think the rollers are not turning either and they "push" the glass forward instead of up.. I bought the whole "curved glass" kit from Mid-Fifty so you know what I have.. All your pictures look like my door except different color. What did you use to get your rollers turning? Did you have any problem with the window jumping out of track?
