Wow. I sure hope not. Not in this neighborhood anyway. Of course, that could probably be said in any neighborhood. I don't know for sure, but I would be willing to bet it was a drug related issue. I haven't heard any further on the incident, but I don't normally watch the news, so I doubt I will unless I care enough to find out, and I don't. LOL.

I understand... You probably have me beat, but most people are shocked to hear I have 75 oak trees!

You either got very bored one night or that tidbit was included in margeting the property, yes?

Either way, I can see a "storm" knocking one of those down a year, giving a nice little supply of wood.

Well Jim,

Someone turned on the spigot here and I'm seeing chain control in 3 directions. Looks like I'll be in the office all weekend

Hope everyone else can enjoy their weekend.

It's Springtime. It'll melt fast. Snowed here all day but didn't stick. Rain shadow of the Sierra Mtns for me. I heard that the Western slope had a 4500 foot snow level. Cool, literally.

Not that I consider it a contest, but yes, we have lots and lots of oak trees. Also madrones, doug firs, and a plethora of others. More than we can count for sure.

Happy Saturday Nor Cal!

Hank, There is a neighbor here in the apt complex with a bike that has one of those gas motor conversion kits on it, and she still rides it around. However, I don't know of any law that has passed making them illegal. I don't know the woman personally, only heard the bike several times, and actually saw her start it up the other day, which is how I know it is a woman.

Well, I "think" I found out why the VA is with holding my monthly benefit check. After getting the typical government run around, and nobody saying I owe them anything, I decide to call the admin number which is the same one I started with back on the 1st. This time I am told it is not a hospital debt but a education debt. They state it happened in 1999. I told them I never used my VA education benefits after 1984 when I went to Cypress JC to take automotive courses. She told me she will put a tracer on it which will take 3 to 4 weeks to complete. She also said debts like this are typically from dropping a class, or failing a class. I failed the transmission class back in 1984 because I just could not figure out automatic transmissions. Manual transmissions were a piece of cake, but I couldn't assemble the auto one correctly. So I am guessing it is because of that. However, that was 33 years ago! Why did they wait until now to do anything? I asked her why I did not get any letter from the VA and she told me it was sent to the Anaheim address. I told her I have not lived there in 30 years. She apologized and said that was the address on file.

So, needless to say, I am asking my senator for help. Already filled out the written request form (as they can't accept email requests on their website) And will mail it as soon as I get a stamp.

Just ridiculous Jim. Sounds like the VA though...

I was helping dad with some paper work here last week. He's had medi-cal since he got laid off and I got to thinking about how the system has worked for him.

Other than his blood pressure medication, in the year and a half since his condition developed medi-cal has denied every single treatment he has been prescribed and we've had to appeal it. This newest treatment was prescribed by a doctor at UC San Fran to treat MS so it's not like he's on the painkiller radar or something...

My point being: how do these pencil pushers know better than our doctors or veterans reps?

They don't, but just like Work Comp and disability payments, by rote they deny claims making people jump through hoops even though the claims are legit. I'm sure they figure some people won't have the gumption to navigate the hurdles they put up to get what's rightfully theirs.

Well, I was going to ask Dianne Feinstein to help in this VA situation, however, my brother informs me of her negative attitude towards vets, so I will be mailing my request to Senator Kamala Harris instead.
