Nice work!
Lol.... I never mastered splicing rope...
I usually rely on a bowline for eyes.
Thank you, but I am no master at splicing. Would have been much quicker to just tie a fisherman's knot at each end. Or could've made the length adlustable by using a Blake's friction knot. Went with the splices only because it looks "cleaner" when no rope ends are visible.
You could buy my 2017, when you drive in the rain it opens automatic! Its a special edition.
I've tried to duplicate the issue by taking mine through the car wash. The tailgate hasn't opened yet. But maybe it takes more water or a longer exposure to water to get into the connector.
any updates on this issue?
have mine x 6 wks now, probably has happened 4-5 times
always noticed before I start driving, or shortly afterwards so I am assuming triggered by brake release
I filled the tailgate connector 2 different times with dielectric grease. After the second grease job it has not happened since. I have driven in snow/salt/rain and have washed the truck several times. I wash the bottom of the truck and definitely soak the harness and no more problem for me...so far. Did you see my previous post on where and how about the dielectric grease?

I just read the whole thread, will be doing it soon. Thanks

mine fell in this timeline. dealer checked it out last week. ordered 880.20 parts that include complete wire harness to tailgate along with bunch of connectors. they are also replacing my tailgate that was smashed.
labor shows 4.5 hours. you must remove fuel tank. all the connectors that are suspect to water intrusion are on top of fuel tank. you can not get to them without removing tank.

There are no connectors above the tank, they are all in the rear. You need to drop the tank to replace the main wire harness as it runs above.
Mine was built in August and has only opened unintentionally when my dumb-**** hit the wrong button(s). Worried after hearing the horror stories, and knowing I'm capable of making errors (I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken), I fashioned the lanyard shown in post #86. You're probably good to go. Oh, and I use my p-brake almost all the time.
Anyone having a problem with an 18my? My 18 KR tailgate has never opened on its own but the last few times I hit the button on the tailgate or key fob the release motor cycles 5-10 times before stopping. It opens fine in the first cycle but then continues for a while. I guess I’ll be checking connectors in the morning.
Mine hasn't done this since I disconnected the switch on the dash above the parking brake. I think the shaking from the brake releasing was activating the switch.
