By the way, the 6.0L can actually be a very good motor if you correct the inherent issues it was designed with.
4 bolts per cylinder is not a correctable situation.

Since this post I’ve pretty much switched to RAM but also bought a 2005 Ford 6.0 dually. I love both. 6.0 has been terrific.

Is this a problem for a stock truck? Original 300k mile bolts on our 6.0 and it towed.

Can't run huge injectors and module programming with stock bolts. Not a flaw.

Also, it is correctable with alloy bolts.

i went old school😂, recently sold my 2003 to BIL

in stay in touch with the guy who bought my 12 and 07 fiats
they still kicking, couple water pumps and regular maint.

6.0 can work if not turned up too much imo, ford turned them up a little too much imo from what international designed it to handle cylinder pressure wise. They are damn good running trucks with the 5 speed auto

My 6.0 is stock, about 112k miles now. Good sounding engine, and pretty responsive. Not as powerful as a 6.7 Ford or Cummins, obviously. Doesn’t feel too much different in power than my previous 2018 RAM 3500 dually Cummins derated because of the manual trans it had.

I had a 5.9L Cummins because I bought new in the 6.0L era, 2005. In terms of reliability the Cummins was better than the 6.0L or the 6.4L. But that is ancient history. Ford had to save themselves after the International disaster and these trucks are on their third mechanical evolution since that time. It was the 2011MY. In my view these trucks represent Ford and their survival. After you've owned one you'll get the sense that they don't cut corners if it will affect reliability or the owners experience. The Cummins is a great motor, but the rest of the truck is almost 12 years old and they still don't have the driving experience of a Ford. GM is still the victim of the bean counters. No power upgrades since the L5P came out in 2017 and a very low cost to develop interior. You made the right call. I believe you're going to love it!
