Just installed a Sunpro Super Tach 2 in my 72 XLT. With the ignition switch on and motor not running it reads 1000 rpm. Crank it up it reads 1500 rpm at idle which I know is incorrect. The switch is on 8 cylinder. Green wire on negative side of coil. Black ground. Red to switched 12v. Any suggetstions? Bad tach?
Tried resetting the switch. Didn't work. Red to switched 12v power. Black to ground. Green to neg side of coil. White to instrument lights. Tried it on my Jeep. Didn't work on it either. Both have stock ignition. So I'm definately thinking the tach is no good.
