Need some guidance

I need some help deciding how to tackle replacing the floor, cab corners, door hinge posts and lower cowl parts. Theirs more parts that need replacing, but I don't know what they're called, I do know they come in a 1200.00 kit. My thought is to assemble the new sheet metal, then basically cut the bottom 6" off the bottom of the cab and glue it back together. My original thought was to do it piece by piece, but I don't know what order it should be done in.

Anyhoo, Here's a video of what I'm up against.

Brace everything up first before you start cutting. Here's my 53. A few years newer but the technique should be the same. I also bought my sheet metal from a local metal supplier, it was much cheaper than buying the preformed floor panels. There's another link inside of my link below that helped me.

In your video you say this is a '42? You might want to try posting this in the '47 and older truck forum. You might get a better response.

Hey PNS,
Welcome Aboard! Hmmm... Personally I wouldn't cut the bottom of the
cab off & plan to glue it back to some new parts. Your truck doesn't look that bad. I'd go
slow & start patching it up one area at a time.

I think I'd start on the inside cab corners & then the outside ones. If you are new to welding no
one can see the inside work.. good place to start.

I wouldn't plan on the new pieces fitting right out of the box. The curves on our's were way off &
required quite a bit of adjusting. This is a learn to weld exercise. Please brace your truck cab in all directions
before you do anything to the floor. (Ask me how I know). It takes the jaws of life & hydraulic rams to get it back square again.

I would buy sheet metal locally & se if the local shop class can put some bends in it for you.
$1200 is a lot for pieces that probably won't fit much better than what you can make.

Good luck over there.
