The cab corners on my '82 F-150 xls are rusted... Are there replacements avaiable from places like JC whitney, or do I have to scour the local salvage yards and find one that can be cut and welded in?
Also, would it be possible to fabricate my own with fiberglass? Perhaps using the existing ones as a mold?
Dont try fiberglassing, your best bet would be to find (sheet metal) cab corner patch panels and cutting out all the old rust and welding in the new patch panels.
You might try calling a local body shop and ask where to buy patch panels locally. Or JCW might have them? do an internet search and Im sure you will find many.
I bought mine from jeff's bronco graveyard (www.broncograveyard.com). They worked out quite well. Post some pictures of how bad they are, You might need to replace the lower rear door post as well. I had to do that on my 82 F100. Also depending on how bad they are rusted out you might need to move the bed back one foot to get to the back side of the cab corner. I had to do that because mine where rusted out so bad. Here's pictures of mine from start to finish. If you need anymore advice post back, Fred
