I'm not sure why you wouldn't believe the window motor went bad. They get a lot of use and do wear out.
Mainly because it was fine one day then both went out and then one starts working again. Sounds like a short but the best way to check is disconnect and put bring a hot wire to connector to verify. Easy way to trouble shoot.
It's finally done. The project was temporarily on hold due to rain-related happenings. (Glad the glass was stuck in the up position.) Replaced one switch and one window motor and all works as it should.
Thanks for the suggestions and help!
I signed up on this forum quite a while back - haven't needed help till now - don't want to pirate someone else's post but looks like he has it resolved. OK, my problem, power door locks stopped working some time ago (probably a bad connection since I added remote a couple years ago) and I'm not concerned about the power locks but yesterday drivers side power window worked, today it doesn't. Passenger side works from the drivers side control & passenger side control - I pulled the driver side door panel and find there is a black wire not connected and I can't see where it was connected. There are 5 black wires and four are connected to the switches. Anyone have a photo or description of where the black wires are connected? These are all ground wires, or least my ohm meter indicates they are. Also ohm indicates switches work. I've run some internet searches but don't find what I need as far as black wire color connections. This is a 1989 F-250 4X4 Lariat "ranch" truck - not a daily driver. Thanks for any thoughts or comments.
OK, I found the motor was bad in the power window and have replaced that. Now to figure out where that black wire goes. Pretty sure it goes to the door lock switch since that switch only has two wires connected. The back of that switch seems to have several places a wire could go but I'll probably figure that out with a meter.
Thanks, I should have thought of that. I do have and use shop manuals for my other vehicles, 86 El Camino, 95 wrangler and 06 mini Cooper. I'll order a shop manual and also look for an electrical troubleshooting manual for the 89 F-250.
