I looked thru the past forums and haven't seen this oddity. My passenger window will go down from driver's side control, but will not go up. Using the passenger switch, it will not go down, but will go up. I figure it could be a ground problem, but I have no idea where to start? The driver's side window works normally. Any ideas? Thanks
What year are you working on? On most of the early years, there is no "ground" for the motor(well there is but it's not constant). The way it works is power and ground go to the switch, and the switch swaps the ground and the + to the motor depending on if you want to go up or down. In other words it swaps the polarity of the leads to the motor.
You will have to get a meter or testlight light, and start probing the wiring at the switches unless you want to guess and just replace the switch. The one other thing it could be is the wiring may be broken internally in the door jamb where it bends whenever you open and shut the door. You have power at the door, and the motor works, so that's why I am guessing switch or broken wires.
