Warranty Problem
Warranty Problem
Anybody have the info on the current Ford rep on the forum?
My '14 F250 has 42,000 miles on the clock, and I've had a problem with the TPMS faulting intermittently when I'm on trips, but not around town since around the 10,000 mile point. I've been to my dealer several times, but it didn't leave any codes, and they couldn't make it fault. Their answer was to reset the TPMS, and tell me to see if it helped. I'd go on a trip, it would fault and clear, I'd take it back to the dealer... wash, rinse, repeat.
As I got above 30.000 miles, I made stronger suggestions that they start replacing sensors, and, if that didn't work, replace the TMPS, pointing out that I was running out of warranty. No, they couldn't do that, be, since it was documented before the warranty expired, I was in good shape. So, I get into town from a trip during business hours, the alarm is still flashing, so I head for the dealer.
Great! They find that it's a bad sensor. But, I'm out of warranty. I remind them about how long I've been working with them on it, they check their computer, yep, it's in there, but nope, Ford won't pay for the $90 part. The dealer says they'll eat the labor, but can't do anything about the cost of the part. I manage not to laugh, and tell the service writer that I'll be contacting Ford. He offers me the 800 number and I tell him no thanks, they're monitoring a forum that I'm on.
I love my truck, and I'm still gonna buy Ford products, but this doesn't give me a warm fuzzy about possible future large claims that might occur...

I think the Service Rep is now Tricia. Search for FordService as a user and send them a PM.
Ford has also identified problems with some cellphone chargers and the TPMS giving erroneous faults. I understand this in not your problem, just tossing it out for future reference.

By the odd chance, do you have a cheap cigarette adapter charger in any of the charging ports?
I had random TPMS failures and faults on a long trip and isolated it to that after watching a YouTube video from FordTechMackuloco.
I also one time had a starting system fault, HDC fault, and the truck wouldn't start.
I removed the cheap adapter and to date that is the only issue I have had with the truck in 2 years and 30k miles so far!

Awhile back I pulled all my extras out and went for a drive. Still got the alarm. And, like I said above, the dealer finally determined that it's the rr tire sensor.
I'm going to have to check prices with some of the online Ford stores and see what they want for a sensor - just as a backup plan.

Work through Ford Customer Service here first... This is a case of, hope he goes away or pays. I bet $90 is the list price for the sensor too.
For your backup plan and in case you can't wait:
Find the part # and search Amazon... I see "genuine" (maybe?) Ford TPMS sensors int eh $20-$30 range...

I PM'ed Trisha and she's on it.
Yeah, it's always good to get it in writing. I figured once it was identified as a problem while in warranty, it was pretty much a no-brainer. Looks like I figured wrong...
Yes, I'm sure that he gave me list price. That's a bit of a burn. If I have to buy one, I'll definitely be checking Amazon and the vendors here.
