Thumbs down Ford Warranty Issue

Ive got a 2011 F350 SRW. With 58,058 miles the check engine light comes on, and the truck will not finish a regen. I brought it to a local Ford dealer, and they find "no problems" the manager tells me to "drive it, its probably one of the sensors, but we aren't gonna just throw parts at it". The problem persists so I bring it to another dealer. They find that the CEL was caused by the soot filter / DPF being plugged, causing it to not be able to finish a regen. It now has 63000 miles on it.

Apparently now it is out of warranty after 60,000 miles, and I am responsible for the bill, even though it was in the shop for the problem under the warranty period.

make a few more posts (need 10) then send a message to the Ford service user here (FordService). seems the prior service should protect u somehow..

too bad you are not near Texas.. you can find takeoffs here

The original dealer should be able to verify that you had the issue prior to 60K miles either thru their customer service system or thru OASIS. Probably won't be in OASIS is they didn't do anything which is why I always keep my service receipts/invoices. You signed a document that authorized them to look at the truck. When you picked it up you should have signed and been given a copy of a service invoice describing your complaint/issue and the resolution if any.

Off the top of my head, and I could be wrong, isn't the emission warranty 50k? This might be a goodwill scenario at Ford's discretion.
Did you purchase truck new?

Just adds to the frustration with Ford. I had an '05 with the 6.0L that I had nothing but problems with. Broke down in Wyoming and traded it on this '11. Now just gonna have more problems.

I'd be happy to look into this for you, MikeyKazoo. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll see what I can do to help.

I hate hearing these stories.I kind of understand ford not doing it on good will because he bought it used but IF he was under warranty when it originally went into dealer then it should be covered.NQA.

Second option

If ford will not replace get this one cleaned. It a whole bunch cheaper.

have you seen a service to do this? I know that was the intent, but I've never seen a 'refurbished' DPF swap or let us clean yours offering

Maybe previous owner had a hot tune and didn't delete the emissions crap. I have 161000km on mine stock and no problem with filter yet.
