Hey all, I'm dealing with a fuel leak on return side of mechanical fuel pump on my 86 f250 460. PO bypassed the return system. I used a short piece of 5/16" rubber hose between fuel pump nipple and hard return line. It's leaking at connection to hard line. What is the proper way to make that connection? Thanks.

My truck uses 5/16 rubber line and hose clamps in this location from the factory.
I'd go take a picture to prove you right but it is dark already.
Is the return line rusted through?
Any idea why the P.O. would have done this?
Okay good to know. The truck sat and tanks were rusted. Instead of fixing it right the Po put a plastic boat tank in the bed and strapped an inline electric fuel pump to the fender.
I didn't realize it but the hard line was rubbed thin near the end. I pulled a couple more inches of rubber fuel line past thin spot in the hard line and tighten the clamp back up. No more leak.
