Checked old posts and can’t seem to find the right answer. I am looking for the upper door weatherstripping. (LMC part # 49-9342 Ford # D8TZ-1020518PR) Both say it is for the 1978-79 only. Mine is a 77. What’s the difference aren’t the cabs the same from 73-79? Has anybody put this on their 77's?
I put the upper weatherstrip on all three trucks (77-79) and they're the same. Don't use LMC rubber as it's...well..."less than ideal". Use the stuff from Dennis Carpenter and get the 3M weather strip adhesive. It's better than the PermaTex, as its thicker, and doesn't run all over.

I am 95% sure that the 78/79 was the only ones with the top door rubber. the 73 to 77 only had the cab weather stripping.
The problem is with wind noise even with new weatherstrip on the doorframe. No air leaks thru but the wind noise from the wind coming over the door channel is terrible. I put some foam house type weatherstripping on the top of the door and it cut the noise way down but looks pretty Mickey Mouse. I think they realized by 1978 that they had a noise problem and added that extra strip on the top of the door to eliminate the wind noise.
I've only seen the upper door weatherstrip on the 78-79 upscale models, like the Ranger XLT & Ranger Lariat. My 79 Custom did not have it from the factory.

These weather strips (Ford: D8TZ-1020518-A R/L same) were introduced in 1978, so...were only factory installed on 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco, but can be installed on 1973/77 F100/350's.
The doors are the same: 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.
