so I could swap cylinder 5 injector with cylinder one injector and see if cylinder one fails the cct ? or I could just buy another injector to put in cylinder 5 hole. seems like a lot of work to just swap them. three of those valve cover bolts are hard to get to !
Personally, I would swap the 1 and 5 injectors around. Be sure to vacuum the fuel and oil out of the cylinders before installing the injectors. You can run the engine with the VC off after the swap and do the contribution test. You will also be able to see if the injector is squirting the same amount of oil from the squirter as the other injectors.
There are plenty of threads on the compression test and where to buy it and the adapters needed, just use the search button. The harbor freight one may not be one a mechanic would reach for but for only using once and year it will work fine.
13mm flex socket is your friend - I have 3 of them. You can reach the two bolts by the heater core through the fender well - I can get a ratcheting combination wrench on them by hand with no problem Excursion? Disregard - we're back to the 13mm flex socket.
That bolt near the firewall is best served by a stupid-long extension with a universal and a deep 13mm socket. I face the back of the truck and use the arm closest to the engine to install, remove the bolt closest to the firewall. I have VC pops down to 5 minutes (once the tools are ready)... I have a witness.
tonight when I got home from work, I unbolted the line to the right of the fuel bowl and had my wife cycle the fuel pump. after it sitting for 5 minutes and being cycled, I could hear air/gargling.
is this normal? or do I need to do some more fuel issue chasing?
going to ****** the injectors back out soon. bill and another friend have me just about 100 percent convinced its not in the bottom end.
