Beats me, not to argue, but I've rebuilt the 351-C in my 73 mustang two or three times, and each time I had to order the crank kit and specify auto or manual. I've got a '94 F250 sitting in my driveway with a 351-W, Manual trans and a rod knock. I've been told by every junkyard and reman' outfit I called that they didn't have a used engine or reman'd short block for a manual on hand... If the cranks don't matter, I may be able to fix it when I get some spare time.

If you look at the bottom of the page, you will see November 1988 on the left and Final Issue on the right.
This was the final edition of the 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog and by this time (11/88) the D2AZ-6303-A crankshaft was no longer available from Ford.
The only Ford crank that I remember being A/T specific was the ol' D2AZ6303B 400 CID car crank. Before the 400 was 1st put in to trucks in 1977 there had never been a "regular production" 400 with a M/T behind it. And no Regular Production Car with a 400 ever had a M/T behind it. So the D2AZ6303B wasn't machined for a pilot bearing. Later on D2AZ6303B was replaced by D7TZ6303A. The Pickup and Bronco crank. Which would fit in front of M/T or A/T.
