Looking for Salvage Yards -- Pick n' Pull Los Angeles area
It seems like LKQ Pick Your Part has been buying lots of salvage yards and some oldies have gone out of business in recent years in the greater Los Angeles Areas. LKQ's parts are getting more and more expensive. Some times, it is cheaper to buy new.
What are some of the yards that are still out there where one can pull parts in the greater Los Angeles area. Thanks in advance for your help!

Ecology Auto Wrecking in Santa Fe Springs is a long time pick-a-part yard, they have other locations in SoCal as well.
There is another pick-a-part yard on Alameda Street in south central Los Angeles (about a mile north of the former Firestone Tire plant). Before becoming a pick-a-part, this yard was called Ford Only.
Others are located in San Bernardino and on Branford Street in Sun Valley, aka "wrecking yard row."
About 7 years ago, an FTE SoCal chapter member found a 1965 F100 at Ecology w/a 427 in it. He made the mistake of announcing this info on FTE, then said he was going to go back and get it.
By the time he finally got around to it, the truck was still there, but the engine was gone. I had nothing to do with it.

The nice part about LKQ is that you can check their inventory and prices before you make the drive. The Riverside LKQ was at 40% off at one time, because they were closing it down.
When I used to yard a lot, I would go in and remove the parts that I wanted and stash them over in the RV section until their "50% off" weekends. They have less turnover in the RV section so I had a good chance of going back and getting the loot.
