Morning all, day NOT starting off good. Leaving compound and going down the drive (about a 40 degree hill) had the truck in 4WD LO but still slid down and it an 8"x8" post that had the gate mounted on it. Good news the gate is okay. Truck now has a front dimple about dead center. This dimple is not cute! The 8"x8" post didn't live it's flat on the ground. Crap another project!
OKAY, Okay I'm up moving and getting ready for work.
I could use another thee day weekend.
Andy, sorry to hear about another project.
Oh good morning Ford Fans!
The good thing is the ground wasn't frozen and was saturated so the post came up with the concrete and all. Sounded bad but checked the undercarriage and everything looks okay. Drove good so I think the bumper is the only damage.
Belated good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Up to 35°, dank, gray and overcast. 1/4" of rain since midnight.
Very long afternoon and night last night. Didn't get home until 0130 and didn't get home until 0230.
Sorry to hear about your bumper and gate post Andy.
My pickup started sliding backwards on me a little less than a month ago. Fortunately, I was able to get it stopped before I went over the embankment or hit the sign post. Had to use the winch and a big tree to get me back up the hill and on solid ground with traction. The pucker factor that is experienced is nothing at all like, nor is it near as pleasant, as a Disneyland 'E' ticket ride!
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 35 and raining fairly heavily with a slush mixture.
A friend called around noon and wanted to know if I could meet them at the range and help his son with some shooting pointers. Apparently his 15 year old missed an elk at 50 yards early this morning. Seems like he got a whole snoot full of "buck fever". First elk hunt, well, first elk hunt that he has actually seen and elk when he had a rifle in his hand. He's using a hand me down, "4th generation to learn to hunt on that rifle", M94 dirty 30, (.30-30).
He's doing quite well now. His dad and I ran him through a couple of "stress courses", and got him recovering, getting control of himself and shooting quite nicely after the "heart thumping" experience.
Then I pulled my S&W M&P 10 .308 out of the hard case for some 200 shooting. Open site, Magpul MBUS MAG247, 248 system. I put several rounds down range, gave him a quick class on peep site shooting and gave him a 10 round magazine to go through. He did extremely well for young, inexperienced first time on that rifle.
May have gotten myself in trouble with his dad though. After we were done, his dad took me out to dinner. Seemed like all we heard during dinner was how junior wants a rifle just like mine for his birthday...

It most certainly does. 3rd time that has happened to me and that pucker factor has never improved one little bit. I have been fortunate enough to mitigate the slide before any damage though, well, except maybe to my pride. Each time was witnessed by someone I know.
Howdy all.....back online after this old laptop died last week. Took it in and got it fixed......probably for the last time In computer years, it matches some of my antique tractors.
Just been trying to stay warm and plow snow.....we have real close to 2 feet right now....with more coming tonight and tomorrow supposedly. It warmed up to 34 or so today and I was able to start my dozer and make a little more headway than I can with my little compact wheel tractor........
A few miles above me I hear some people can't get in or out.......we have some newly elected local officials that just took office.....will see if they back up their campaign promises.
Now my pickup won't get out of 4wd low range....It's all electronic controlled.....which, like everything else is always nice.......as long as it's working.
I pulled it in the shop and can't see any wiring damage....tomorrow I will try to do some diagnostics. I'm going to see if I can glean some info from this site.
Good morning Andy and those to follow.
Andy you going to widen the gate when you fix it.
Wayne hope you get your pickup fixed,I don't know squat about the electric 4x4 controls.
