2017 Gum Flapping Thead....
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just got home a little bit ago from and afternoon and evening full of meetings.
Some fool in the Sportsman's Association nominated me for the Board of Directors and the membership ended up electing me. Going to be too busy camping and fishing this spring and summer (with the first trip planned for the 1st of April) for that, but maybe I can fit one Tuesday a month in.
Been there done that. Twice on two different F 250 pickups.
I'm getting real close to needing front brakes and the rotor turned now. When I looked the other day, it looks like I have about 4mm +/- left on the front.

Belated good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. In and out and running errands. More of that to continue off and on all day long.
I did the front brakes last time myself.
I checked with the Ford Quick Lane yesterday and they want $229 for a complete front brake job to include caliper reconditioning and maintenance. I'm thinking about this and going to check back. If it includes replacing the pistons and dust boots, I just might go that route. Plus there is a $25 rebate if I use their credit card. ($25 per axle, but I have drums on the rear.)
"GET A $50 REBATE BY MAIL WHEN YOU USE THE QUICK LANE CREDIT CARD ON ANY MOTORCRAFT® BRAKE SERVICE.*"
I don't have their credit card, but it would be no sweat to get one, use it for this, pay it off and then put it in the drawer and forget about it.
You can check the Corvallis or Albany area at www.quicklane.com. I think I saw this stuff when I logged into my Ford Owner account yesterday.

Got the calipers for about 60 apiece. Easy to bleed these, just open up the bleeder valve, and they will self bleed. Made sure I got all of that old, cruddy brake fluid out. Helps with these trucks having such a big reservoir for fluid.
Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Long afternoon running errands, lots of rain, some wind and trying to figure out the Mazda.
Keeps melting the alternator belt. Alternator seems to get very hot, up to 250, for no apparent reason. Have it at the Mazda Dealership and they still can't figure it out either.

Well, I dropped the truck off down the street at the closest shop because they do free brake inspections. One seized caliper, damaged the rotor, and with 170k on the factory brakes they are starting to get a bit worn so they recommended replacing both rotors, both calipers, new pads, and system flush. They wanted $1,100 to do it!!!
Ford quoted $850, and Les Schwab $630.
It would cost me $500 in parts alone, and Schwab has a 3 year warranty on it and can have it done tomorrow. I think I'll just let them do it.
