Belated good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Long night last night packing out an elk. Finally got out of the woods to the pickups with the quarters and the de-boned meat around 2100. Rounded up the troops and had a lot of greatly appreciated help getting packed out. By the time we got done skinning the quarters, cleaning and getting the meat into the game bags, I didn't get home until between 0030-0100. For some reason, some of my joints aren't working so very well this morning.
In our "party" we have filled 3 tags and have 1 to go.

Nice shooting Jim, you split that log right in half...
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Got the elk up to the butcher. About the only good thing for the day.
We stopped at the care home on the way home. In addition to the Warden's mother, my daughter in laws grandmother is in the same Memory Care Center. She was there with two of my granddaughters and they were making the rounds. She was waiting for her uncle to get there. has slipped into a coma and doesn't look like she has more than a day or two left.
Her uncle showed up and he told me he got his elk on Monday. He had a friends 12 year old on a "youth mentored hunt" with him and the youth got his first animal and first elk.
Anyhow Hospice isn't so sure the Warden's mother is going to make it through the weekend. Days and weeks are starting to get very long again.

And if you think the log was impressive, you should have seen the heart and lungs, if you could have found enough of the pieces to recognize what they were....
Good morning. Sorry to hear all the bad news, Jim.
I'll be continuing to unpack my flooring today. When fedex delivered it yesterday we couldn't even get the two main pallets (2,000 pounds each) up the driveway. And then it started raining. I ended up carrying all 60 65 pound boxes in by hand. Now I need to get them all inside, unpack them, and cross stack them so they can acclimate.
Good evening Oregon, sorry to hear about your mother in law and your daughter in law's grandmother Jim..
Couldn't the Fedex truck back up your drive Evan..? It sounds as if you are going to be sore for a few days..
