Oh yeah, I forgot. If you have successfully gotten a refund for this problem from your dealer, would appreciate hearing from you at t-mcalavy@tamu.edu. This may help Ford coax my pirate dealer into complying, if I have proof that others aren't getting the run-around on this. Many thanks.
I bought a used 91 F150 XLT 99,750 miles and took it to a local repair shop to have them do a bumper to bumper 'fix up any problems'... one of my complaints to them (before I knew about this website) was that gas seemed to flow from the rear tank to the front tank... after they fixed all the leaks (rear main seal, left rear something or other etc etc) THEY took it to a local ford dealer and had them check out the problem... they replaced the check valves.. said it was a safety issue - no charge...
I just bought a 1990 F250 S/C 460 with Dual Tanks (probably obvious with a 460 ha ha). The previous owner did tell me he has replaced the dual tank switch (on the dash) 3 times because it would cause the truck to die when the tanks were switched? During my test drive it seemed to work ok, but after I bought it I have seen the same problem. Is this just a defective switch on the dash board or another problem downstream of the switch?
I just printed out the recalls for this truck and none of them mention a defective switch. What are the odds of this truck having now at least 4 defective switches?? Anyway the latest recall dated 7/19/2001 expires for my truck in one week! I will get it in this week!
Thanks for any insight you all may bring to this issue.
