weeeves, thank you for that, ill have to look for a ground and positive when I tackle it. just ordered the switch.
also, how did you easily release the terminal/wire from the connector?
housedad, you mentioned theres simple wiring to keep the fogs on with the highbeams, I looked through a few threads and I think its the orange/grey wire - but what do I do with it?
I have a diagram of it as part of the electrical mods I have made. (aux fuse blocks, aux battery, f350 dash, air lockers, air compressors, etc.) I'll try to strip that circuit out tonight for you and post it. It requires a relay but it is really dead simple.
this is the relay im going to use. #5 goes to the 5pin yellow wire on the connector, right..
then for the positive #1, can I tap back into another wire at the headlight switch - or what is an easy wire I can use for power (don't want to put them on the battery).
for the ground #2, is there a ground wire I can tap? or just attach to body somewhere..?
#3 and #4 go to the lights, looks pretty simple from there. thanks for everyones input!

Breaking it in half is the quickest and easiest way. But I'll show you the right way to do it
You need to remove the locking piece in the connector. Push down on the locking tab and the same time, pry the locking piece off with a screwdriver.
Now, if you look closely inside, you'll notice small locking tabs underneath each pin. I outlined them in the picture with a red dot. You'll need to pry between that and the pin with a very small screwdriver, pick, ect. At the same time, pull on the wire from the other side.

You got it!

No, more than likely, you'll overload that circuit and you'll start blowing fuses or melting wires. It needs to be connected directly the battery or battery junction box with a fuse. Your manual should specify what size. I would guess you would probably need a 30A-40A fuse.

Any ground is fine. Just make sure it's not on a painted surface.
I used one of those Brother label machines on the smallest size. White print on clear label then trimmed it close. They were on for probably 10 years before I pulled them when I refinished the dash.
ATG....if it's a help...PM what you'd like them to say and I can print them and drop 'em in the mail for ya. Also, black or white letters? (I think I have both tapes...)
Dies anyone know if they had a model with fog lights but no auto headlamps? I want to use the factory switch, but i don't want the auto position on there. I don't like having things that don't work!
Woow. I barely even remember doing that mod and making that thread.. Alzheimer's has got me bad.. But I never throw away pics. I could probably find them and post them again if needed. The ones posted online were in a photo site that went out of business and the were erased there.
Bion, please do! And make sure you start a brand new thread. It will be a great accompanying thread to the Adding Fog Lights to an Excursion thread already in the tech folder.
