Distributor question

Hey guys, rebuilding a 400 and i am looking into distributors. i am going to go with a vacuum/mechanical advance one. I saw that some require a ignition box and some dont. What does this mean? I have a 78 f250 camper special/ explorer with a c6. not sure if that helps

Ford switched from points type distributors to electronic (Duraspark) systems around 74. There are several versions of Ignition Control Module (a silver box mounted on the driver fender) and you can tell which version by the color of the grommet. I also have a 78, and it's blue

My guess is that the ones that don't require a module already have one bolted to it or are points type

I'd bet they tend to use the selling point of using one wire too
