I can't figure out if it's the power steering pump or the steering box or something else?? I've tried the adjustment thing on the box and it didn't help worth a damn. Long story short I swapped trucks with my brother and thought I was going to die on the freeway today. If you turn the wheel left it's stays left and if you turn it right it stays right. Coming out of a turn, it still wants to turn. It was windy as crap today here in OKC and I couldn't keep the damn thing straight to save my life.
Has it had the ball joints replaced lately? They can cause it to bind that way if not installed properly, also the adjustment on the steering box you did may be too tight? Have you tried backing it off some?
These are the only things I can think of right now, it's late..... I am sure someone else will chime in too with other thoughts.....

New steering box may be your solution. On my wife's X I adjusted the steering box to tight and even after loosening back up it stayed the same, new steering box and all was well. I bought a reman from Autozoo.
If even one ball joint is damaged during installation by pressing in at an angle, that additional friction can mess up steering. But, most likely this problem will be fixed by spending $$. I am thinking steering box.
I'm thinking steering box. The most common problem there is one person or shop will tighten it up in an attempt to improve steering, then another shop or person will try the same thing because they didn't know it had been tried before. The next thing you know... 3 or more people try to tighten it up, then the binding starts.
Have had play in steering issue for some time. A while back, had the spouse turn steering as I laid under truck to watch... I was shocked. My driver side spring ubolts were loose... the axle moved back and forth. Tightened up bolts and most of steering play is gone now. Have no idea why bolts were loose... have never touched them before.
