Trying to replace the headlights on my 2001. I can get the clips out but trying to get that bottom part to come out has me stumped. I watched the video on Youtube and the guy made it look so easy. Trying to collapse those wings is giving me grief. I tried pushing a socket over them, no go. Tried a zip tie, no go. The Youtube guy said to use your fingers, good luck with that. I noticed Big Pig Daddy running the torx screw out or in until it popped out of the socket, not ready for that just yet. Any other helpful suggestions?
THey'd be most appreciated.

what type of socket did you use? A medium to deep well socket at IIRC 7 or 8 MM should push the wings in, they will need a bit of force to come out, if your replacing with newhousings I wouldn't worry about the old, you only reuse the bulbs and sockets
I have something like the right angle hook pick below, except made by Mac. I used that and a small screwdriver to remove the clip. With two hook tools it woulda been easier. IIRC it took me 45 minutes of cursing. Never would have made it without wrenching juice.
May be too late to help you, but I just did this on my 97 which has a very similar setup. I ended up removing the grill and parking lights and took off the plastic grill reinforcement panel that holds the headlights. A little more wrenching, but after doing so I knew that I would not have gotten those clips off the way the video showed.
