When I installed my filter housing I went that " little bit too far" and heard a crack from the plastic housing. No leaks and all ran good so I let it go but I did purchase a new housing on E-bay for around $18 ( I think). Well, next go around we were traveling in Alaska in July when I'm due for oil change & fuel filters. I went to a dealer to have it done. I forgot to mention the filter housing and the mechanic came to me with the " good news / bad news" line. Good news was the oil change was done. Bad news was the fuel filter housing was broken and they did NOT have on in stock. He sure looked surprised when I said that I had one. Made my day. I need to remember to pick up another one for that " just in case" moment. I always carry a fuel filter set with me for those moments.

Definitely don't want to find out you need one en route up or in AK. Pretty rural here in AK and along the Al Can. not that you can't get help, but it's expensive and might be slow getting to you.

Yes it is. At a campground in Whitehorse I ran into a guy that had his motor home breakdown somewhere along the Alcan between Watson Lake and Dawson Creek. He said it cost $6000 Can to have it picked up by flatbed trailer and taken to Whitehorse. Another had a rock puncture his radiator and had to walk 10 mi to get help. He got towed in also.
