is part# HC3Z-5L499-A the bracket that attaches to the frame for upper link attachment? My Ford parts guy says different. Please help. having a heck of a time w/frame bracket ordering. Thanks
I am starting with just the lowers. The payload is somewhere between 3900 and 4700 pounds, depending on which chart I read. Camper is dry weight 2650 pounds which is essentially 3300 pounds when fully charged. Then add personnel (2 of us) and our gear and we are at least at 4000 lbs. A couple of short trips and we should have it dialed in. The uppers are on the maybe list. I don't want them engaged at all times but I also don't want to have to install and uninstall between trips. Air bags will be the third main option. I have them now and the system is fine: a switch and gauge under the dash will inflate or deflate at will. I do not like it that the airbags, when bringing the truck to level completely surpass the springs and the airbags present more lean and sway. Maybe a smoother ride but the handling is different in a negative quality. In combination with the heavier springs of the F350 there might be a happy medium. Opinions I have found through forums and RV sights are all over the place. I have a tendency to disbelieve them all when they are so scattered and will head off down the path described above.
And yes a DRW would solve 95% of the issues, but then there is my lovely Susie who can tell the exact right vehicle for the job just from a picture on the interweb and watching the various trucks drive by the house.
IF you have an OEM swaybar then its a direct replacement. This is the swaybar for my dually. There are 4 attachment points, 2 on the ends and 2 on the back side of the bar, you can see this in the pic of OEM vs Hellwig Big Wig replacement. Its a driveway swap (in MOST cases)* I have done many of these and do not even have to raise my vehicle off the driveway.
* My '15 dually CCLB required that you lift the bed to get at the attachement point on the drivers side to mount the swaybar. This is because of the location of the DEF Tank...I did not have to do this on my '11, DEF tank was ina different place.
Thanks. I have a 2017 without a sway bar. I ordered the parts based on the list in the thread. Some of the bolts are on back order and I'm trying to see how it all bolts up to understand what is missing. Pictures of a stock 2017 setup will be most helpful

As I understand, all lthe holes are drilled to start with. Depending upon your truck, you challenge may or may not be attaching the drivers side downrod due to the position of the DEF/Fuel tank. Baring that it is about a 30 min or less job.
The directions sucked. I mean...... They just simply SUCKED.
Bad. Beyond bad. Horrible, terrible, lousy directions..
After I fought with it for over an hour and got it on, I thought it over in my head and wondered if I adjusted it right. (The hellwig had adjustable hangers)
If you're a professional, have a drive-on lift, and have messed with sway bars before, you'll do fine with a hellwig.
Otherwise, don't do it. I'm still debating whether to take it off so I can measure the thread turns on the hangers......
Oh, and they say you can just move the brake line on the right-side axle aside by removing a small bracket? You can't. That's crap. That bracket is welded on and the only way to get it off is by pounding the snot out of it or by putting a torch on it....... Not gonna happen. You gotta bend it out pretty good.
The directions were translated from bumfukkese, where it was made, by someone from Asscrackistan and nobody bothered to put them into readable English
Hellwig can kiss my goat-smellin' *** for pulling a stunt like that

Those things typically use special locking nuts and bolts. Some of them are one-time use.
So if you head down to your local Ace, make sure you understand what you need.

Agreed
My BIL works on super duties only and is helping source the parts for me. He let me know about the back order and says they don't have one on their lot with a sway bar. I'm just looking for a reference on how it all bolts together. I figure pictures of an installed one will help. Again I'm going with OEM not aftermarket.

Duallies are going to come with it OEM and its the same setup. Then look at your axle to see if the holes are there (I am betting they are), the hole are already in the frame and unless you have interference from the DEF/fuel tank on the drivers side its a 30 min instrall.
Thanks for all the part numbers!!! How about the bushings that go attached to the axle? Do you have the part number for those too, once again thank you
