So I know the power windows have an "obstruction sensor" to keep them from going up using one-touch if there's something in the way.
However, I've had the following occur on several occasions now and wonder if anyone else has:
Every once in a while, when I one-touch either the drivers or passenger front windows up, they will go all the way up, then roll back down to half open. Now that it has happened several times, I've been careful to make sure my elbow wasn't on the top of the door, etc., but even when I'm sure they're clear, they will still do it. If I then hit one-touch again, they'll go from half to fully closed no problem.
They don't do it a lot - maybe once every 10-15 times or so, and randomly. I'm wondering if maybe airflow is activating the obstruction sensor when I'm at highway speeds? Or maybe something else? Or maybe there's a glitch in the system? Or maybe I'm not hitting the one-touch button correctly once in a while?
Anyway, curious if anyone else has had this happen.
The problem arises when the motor does not know the exact position of the window, which is when it switches from it's auto reverse function to it's stop function. If it doesn't think the window is fully closed and it senses the rise in current, it reverses, which is what you're seeing.
I know in my jeep, the auto up/down stops had to be retrained occasionally, especially if the battery had been disconnected. I'd hold the switch at the second detent (auto) for a couple seconds past when the window stopped and I'd hear a click of the motor shutting off. This retrained the stop positions, and fixed the same types of symptoms in both directions. I can only assume there's a similar procedure on our windows.
My hold feature works some of the time ,but the switch has it's own temperament that it will decide ,not me to go up or down and stop or go full auto like it's got a hair trigger. Makes it a pain to set window near top of movement .
Do you have window shade inserts? I have them on my POS car here in Okinawa and my window will auto roll back down if they aren't seated all the way up in the window track. Ive been tempted to rip them out several times and throw them in the trash.

Did you try my suggestion? I looked it up and the procedure is the same for Ford vehicles as I outlined for my Jeep. Hold the switch in the "Auto" (2nd detent) position for 2-3 seconds after the window fully closes to reset the end points.
The reason it auto reverses, or "bounces back" if it wasn't clear in my first post, is that it thinks something is in the window (like a finger) so it reverses. Retraining the stops tells the window at which point the rise in current to the motor means the window is closed, rather than it's crushing your finger.

Did it today. Guess I'll have to do a bit of driving to see if it took.
