I started to have an issue with my 2015 Super Duty King Ranch today. I have the full SYNC Nav unit. When I left this morning my backup camera worked fine. This afternoon I started my truck and now when I back up the Nav screen shows a faint somewhat pixelated image. You can see my rear hitch for a few seconds then the pixelated image goes away and all that is left is a black screen. The image seems to come back at times then the screen returns to black. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what was the cause/cure. Thank you!
You still under warranty? If so, go let Ford fix it for you is my suggestion.
The only other suggestions i have deal with the tailgate harness. You try unplugging, spray with wd40 and then re-plug it. This is the connector near the spare tire behind the bumper.
You also might try removing the inside cover of the tailgate and do the same for the camera plug.
Unfortunately my warranty is expired. I am going to take a closer look tonight at the connections etc. The frustrating part is that it worked perfectly this morning and suddenly died sitting in a covered parking spot.
My f250 king ranch started having the same intermittent backup camera failures. I have had it to the dealership 4 times now. The sync module, touch screen and camera have all been replaced. Now they are looking at the wiring harness. Today I was told they think it has to do with the fifth wheel hitch that was added. The camper place put the hitch in and added a plug to the bed of the truck. The hitch was installed over a year ago and the camera just started doing this in the last month. They now want me to pay for a factory plug to be placed in the bed as that is not covered by my extenddd warranty. Any thoughts on this? Would it not have failed before now if it is a problem with the added hitch?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

If it was me I would question them and find out why a plug added to the bed for a 5th wheel trailer would affect camera operation. Did they cut the camera wiring? Is the camera wiring part of the wiring harness they added? Why would the trailer wiring affect camera operation at all? If they can show that the installer damaged the camera wiring then you would be on the hook for the replacement plug. Me, I'm skeptical that adding a extra trailer plug would cause a problem with the camera unless the installer screwed the job up. JMO
Edit to add: Your description of the problem sounds like the camera power is low. There is a good possibility that wiring is damaged somewhere and you are not getting full power to the camera for operation. Disconnect the wiring at the camera and check for proper voltage. Bear in mind that reading voltage with a meter could show ok but the connection is so slight that it won't allow a full 12 volts load. Check it with a bulb type (not led) test light.
My back up camera developed problems a couple of months ago in my 2015 platinum super duty. One day it was fine, a few days later it would say camera not available. It then started this past week going to a black screen. Now it simply doesn't do anything when I shift to reverse. Home screen doesn't change at all. I've replaced both the tailgate harness and camera. I've unplugged and replunged the connection over the parking brake pedal. I've even removed the screen and made sure the connection was good there. I don't have a blown fuse and I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?
