Went to back out of the driveway yesterday and no picture on my nav screen. It switched to the camera screen but it is just black. I unplugged the connection at the rear of the truck before the tailgate and plugged it back in. Everything seemed fine with the connection. I also have a lock pick installed but if I remember correctly the camera still plugs directly into the nav unit. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this and maybe any other suggestions of things to check before I take it to the dealer for warranty.
Thanks,
Jeremy
I took the truck to my dealer this morning and they checked a couple of things and then informed me that they would need to keep my truck for up to 2 full days to trace down the problem. The tech said he had one do this before and ford has them go through the entire wiring harness from the tailgate all the way to the nav. unit. I did pull the lockpick out the other day but that made no difference. I am only at 12,*** miles so this will be under the regular warranty but it makes me think that purchasing the 5 year 125,000 mile extended warranty is probably going to pay for itself in the long run.

As many electronic doodads that this truck has, I got the extended warranty when I purchased the truck.
I've been having the same problem since new - random camera failures. The last visit the dealer replaced everything but the wiring. For some reason they are reluctant to spend the time tracing the harness.
Last night it happened again and (while still in reverse) i stepped on the parking brake and the video came back on. Released the brake (slowly) while holding the release handle and the foot brake became a "switch" to turn the camera on and off. Finally set the brake as hard as i could, and when i pulled the release the camera stayed on. Back to the dealer again I guess.

There was a thread on here that dealt with a main wiring connector that is attached to the parking brake bracket. The connector comes loose or pins lose connectivity if the parking brake is used often. I believe the cure was to check the connector and relocate it off of the bracket so the parking brake use would not jolt it. (This may have nothing to do with your problem, just throwing it out there.)
does anyone have a picture of that connector that is connected to the parking brake? looking under the dash i also see a couple of modules near the parking brake what are they?
This same thing is happening with my 2013 F250 HD screen is black I put it in park and let the brake off hard and it starts working again. I can't seem to find the connectors, anyone have pictures?
I was looking at this thread and almost wrote it off because it was old. However my camera has recently become very intermittent and IS affected by the parking brake. Guess it's time to go connector hunting. I use the park brake every time the truck is parked so it's a possibility.
I have my truck in the shop for this problem. When it doesn't work, I get a message that says "Camera Unavailable, see your Dealership". Called late this afternoon and they said they updated Sync and it has been working since. Couldn't pick the truck up this afternoon so I'll find out tomorrow if it fixed the problem. For some reason I doubt that's the problem.

Mine does the exact same thing. Apply and release the park brake pedal and see if it comes on or flickers. Mine will. It will also go in and out if I reach under and fiddle with the wiring. I can see the offending connector but it's a b$tch to get to.
Naturally the camera acted perfectly while it was in the shop. They updated Sync, right now it's working. When it acts up again I'll remember to move the parking brake and see if it makes a difference. I use the parking brake all the time so you'd think it would act up all the time.
