Hello,
I have read some other threads about reverse light problems but can't seem to find the answer to my problem. I have a 2001 F350 7.3 power stroke. The 15A fuse for my reverse lights and vacuum pump keeps blowing when I put the truck in reverse. The vacuum pump doesn't seem to be the problem it works correctly with the fuse removed. I have check the reverse switch on my transmission and all seem to look fine no bare wires and plug is pushed up tight. I have check wires at the back the truck and cant find anything wrong. It did have a backup camera professionally installed but removed once the problem started occurring. Also truck has a headache rack with LED reverse lights, that plugged into a trailer plug in the bed of the truck. I have unplugged the headache rack and the fuse continues to blow. I have been fighting this battle now for around a year now and can't find the problem. At this point I am open to an suggestions.
Thanks
Nathan
intermittent is works sometimes and blows fuse somethings
hard failure. is every time it blows fuse.
defective reverse switch.. internal short to case/ground.
pinched wire in grommet area or wire harness to frame holders.
damaged reverse light socket.. shorting to ground side.. could be rust or dirt.. not just smashed..as in damage..

It doesn’t alwayd blow immediately.... sometimes it does..... last night I put a new fuse in it and drove it and put it in reverse several different times by about the 5th time putting it into reverse to check if the lights were working it blew and than I went home and parked and put a new fuse in it and this time as soon as I put it in reverse it blew immediately. I have check all the wires and can’t seem to find any that have anything expose all the wires are in that plastic cover..... and the plastic cover has no holes or wear spots in any of it.
