Truck starts fine this morning put fuel in it, fired it up and started 30 seconds later it dies First I panic about putting regular gas in not diesel but then look at the pump and realized I put in the right fuel. Cranked it over and ficm was reading 41.5 volts and quickly descended to zero. I replaced the power board which was in pretty bad shape and have a spare ficm. With the new Power board and the used ficm I still get the same results. Could this be something besides the ficm?
Don't forget that BIG 50A fuse in the BJB.
Might be that the 04 does not have that one there.
But look for the main power fuse for the FICM.\When
mine blew the FICM would still read voltage right at
key on and bleed down to 0. New fuse and all was happy.
Well that and a new power board.
50a fuse was the issue. Batteries were weak from cranking so have to pick up a new fuse this morning and give it a try I talked to Scott at FICM repair.com and he turned me in the right direction also. can't say enough nice things about that site. I'll post results once I get my hands on a fuse.
Truck was all loaded up for camping and offloading this weekend I guess my truck had other plans....
Still not starting, I am going to have the batteries load tested in the morning they were on a charger yesterday and key on are reading 11.6 and cranking are dropping into the 9's. Truck died when the FICM went so would I need to prime anything from the fuel starvation? Vapor lock? FICM is reading 47.5 should I e worried about the logic board since the power board melted? I have to set up my scan guage for logic voltage still.
Glad to hear that Scott got you going in the right direction. There is nothing you have to do to get things 'primed' following a replacement of that fuse, but chances are that if that fuse blew, it will blow again. Soon.
Logic board damage FREQUENTLY accompanies burnt out power boards. The only real way to know is to stress test the module and see what happens.
Truck is back up and running. Both boards went. Power board was melted, so it probably took out the Logic board. Got a FICM to use while I send mine in for repair.
Thanks again to everyone here, and Scott at FICMrepair.com for the help. I would have looked forever for that 50a fuse....
