Just bought an 90 F250. Got pics up of some of the tags underneath bug i could really use your help. If you can, where is good place to start? Vin?

 

I slid under my truck but I think I missed numbers off the axel.

Can you help make sense of this alphabet soup?

To the OP: Is this a 4 speed manual trans with a non-synchro first gear? It would be a Borg Warger T18 if so.

It looks like you have a Dana 60 axle with a 3.54 ratio.

Is there a warranty plate on the drivers door? It has trans and axle codes along with other info not found in the VIN.

1990 F-250 regular cab 4X4 pickup with 351 engine and E40D trans.
3.54 gear ratio on open differentials. sterling 10.25 rear axle and TTB front suspention with either a Dana 44 or a Dana 50 axle in the front.

 

now I just need to research what some of that is.. like I said it's my first truck -- but thanks for your help

 

1FT = FoMoCo USA - Ford Truck - Complete Vehicle.

H = Class G Hydraulic Brakes; 8,501-9,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

F26 = F250 4WD Pickup.

H = 351W 4V EFI

3 = Check digit, FoMoCo use only.

L = 1990.

N = Norfolk VA Assembly Plant.

B57023 = 1990 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.

E8TA-ZA ~ 610312-1 = Dana 50 Front Driving Axle / 3.54-1 / No Limited Slip / Manual Hubs / 4,600 lbs. Front Axle Capacity.

The 4 speed could be either a Borg-Warner T-18 (TRANS code: F) or Borg-Warner T-19C (TRANS code: P).

Ed: No Warranty Plates after 1979, replaced by the Certification Label....that from 1970 thru 1979, had very little info on it.
