What is the deal with seats? I look at pics on here and remember bullnose trucks from the past and I see a big difference in seats. Some seem to be thick and plush while others are lightly padded and very thin/skimpy looking. Mine (83 no cloth) is the thin/skimpy type. Did the base model trucks have less padding? I want something different and just need to know what direction to look. Will a 73-79 seat bolt in? They seemed to be much more comfortable. What other years will bolt up with minimal work?
The upscale models did have different covering materials available, and have more padding. The floor has more sound deadening in the cab. Some of the top models had a headliner.
Most of these by now are wore out and need re-covering. All you need is the frame, and get it re-upholstered with as much padding as you want.
A couple of the bars/braces in the seat back are broken. Should I repair those r find a different frame? They are the vertical bars about every 6 inches across the back. It just doesn't seem as well made as the older seats.
Regular cabs and crew cabs use the same front seat.
Bronco's and Super Cab's have a different floor pan and mounting.
I had welded two of those back slats in the last time I recovered my seat six years ago.
That didn't seem to work long term.
This time I screwed and riveted in some aluminum strap from my scrap pile.
