Bench seat

Ive been thinking of swapping a bench seat back into my 82 f150. Wanted to ask if all 80-85 trucks used the same seats or if i should look for a specific year. Found a small junkyard with a bunch of these trucks and going to get some stuff.

So a single cab seat for a single cab truck and crew cab seats for crew cab?

I hate to get rid of my explorer style seats but you sit so low in the truck im thinking of getting the correct style bench for the teuck and put it back in.

Yup. Further, Bronco seats for a crew cab truck. Or, as shown on that page, get the seat pan and use the correct seats for it. That'll raise you up some.

I have a 1989 bench seat in my truck, It is much more comfortable than the 1985 seat I had plus I now have a cool flip-down armrest.

Bench seats from 1980 - 1996 trucks are a direct bolt-in, no modifications!

Is the ride height similar? I'm kicking around on whether to recover mine or get a newer style seat. I do like not having the headrests in the rear window though.

Ride height is about the same. The 1989 seat is a bit higher, firmer, and a LOT more supportive. The 1987 - 1991 bench seat "headrests" are not near as high as the later 1992 - 1996 full-height headrests.

I tried almost every bench seat style from 1980 - 1996 before I made a final decision, and I personally like the 1987 -1991 style seat the best.

I didn't even bother calling the junkyard for the price on the seats they have. I figured up the cost to recover one with buying the supplies myself and I am looking at $750 in supplies alone and that doesn't include the cost of the foam padding for the seat back.

I just will pull these seats out one day and take them to a upholstery shop guy at work knows a place that is very good and they would do my seat for between $100 to $200 out the door.

These are the seats that I currently have in the truck, they need to be raised up more as they are a little on the low side but don't want to raise them up anymore due to the head rest I don't mind the height they are now but don't want them higher.
