It's about time to put seats in my "52 F3, and I've been reading every thread I can find on seats, and was wondering... instead of having to fabricate a frame for bucket seats would these second row buckets be the right height and just bolt in?
hard to answer with out knowing the seat height... I fabbed a frame that was 4.5" high for my chrysler seats... I think normal truck seat height is 14-15" from the floor... those look pretty tall already... but nice seats
I guess a lot depends on your fabrication skills as to which route to take. Personally I like the freedom to fabricate my seat mounts, that way I can place them where I want them and use the space for other things. Here are a couple trucks where I fabricated seat mounts. The first is a bit more involved since the mount actually serves as the lower half of the seat glide...this is a Jetta seat and they are relatively inexpensive because few want to mess with this level of fab work. The other pic shows a mounting for an aftermarket bench seat...nice and clean and at the proper height. When covered with carpet it will look great. There have been other FTEers that have actually fabricated drawers into their seat bases...nice use of otherwise wasted space.
You can check out this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ench-seat.html, post #11, to see the seat. This is a custom built seat much like the Glide seats...bench lower with bucket seat backs and a drop down arm rest. The owner of this truck found some custom buckets that he liked better so that is why he is selling his seat now.
ChuckRob - I hadn't thought of that option. Being able to remove the seats like that is pretty slick. I wonder if you could do something like that with a second or third row bench seat?

I think that could be done. When you working under the dash it sure makes life easier.
