I have sold that truck, the current one I'm restoring is a 69 f-250 with a 360.
Do you have the part # that correlates to that ID # you spoke of?
What is the problem with the sending unit you have now?
D7TZ-9275-B (replaced C8TZ-9275-A & D0TZ-9275-D) .. Fuel Tank Sending Unit / Marked: C8TF-9275-A or D0TF-9275-B or D7TF-9275-BA / Obsolete

The sender was nothing more than a pile of rust, completely shot.
I listed 14 of the puppies NOS (Green Sales has 3) .. so you can replace it. Call around for the best price, obsolete parts prices vary wildly from one source to another.
Of course Green Sales would say they don't have it, especially if a dumb cluck answered the phone and took the C8TF-9275-A ID number as the part number.
If you typed that ID number into Greens webpage, you got: "Sorry, we don't have this part as this time."
And...when typing part numbers into Green's webpage, REMOVE the hyphens, type the number like this for example: D7TZ9275B
I found a DOTZ-9275-D on ebay, the problem is it is for 3/8 fuel line, mine is 5/16.
Something smells and it's not hay.
Ford would not replace one fuel sender with another, if the fuel line was a different diameter.
C8TZ-9275-A is the original part number for 1968/69, two are available NOS, one at Green, t'other at Bob "Snake" Allen, who wants mega-bucks for obsolete parts.
The only thing I can think of is that the sender that they are selling didn't come out of the box that they say it did. In other words the part # on the box is correct but the sender has an incorrect nipple size (3/8). My only solution is to try and get one of the guys at Greens to get up out of his chair and go measure the part for me.

The one you found on EBAY may be a repro not a Genuine NOS Ford sender. Bill posted that Green Sales has all three part numbers that apply to your truck. I suggest acing EBAY and calling Green. Ask them prices on all three. I would assume One of the replaced part numbers will be cheaper than the more current part number. And ask them to make sure it's NOS Ford. I'm sure it is but it can't hurt. Please post what you find out. As I need one for my 68 F250 also. You can blaze the trail for me.
