What is the easiest way to get top bolt off starter?

My cousin is doing the work...And his idea is to come from the front bumper area with a super long extension...

Now it was nighttime in my driveway so he was unsuccessful - and he will not be back for round 2 (attempt number 2) until Monday...

What is best combination of tools and do you remove it from underneath...through well well...or by doing his method..

On my air ratchet I use a 3in extension, impact swivel, another 3in extension, and a 13mm impact swivel socket. Gets right to it.

Getting top bolt out hard enough, getting it back in is a nightmare. I posted McGyver way I did mine some time ago...it works.

What works for me is removing the starter solenoid from the starter. Way more room with it out of the way.
Tools I use to remove solenoid & top starter bolt.. ratchet , #2 Phillips bit socket, 13mm deep & 13mm shallow socket all 1/4 size. Small flat head screwdriver to aid in solenoid to starter installation. All done from under the truck.

Remove rt front wheel, use long extensions (or U-joints and shorter ones) and a 6-pt IMPACT socket.

Using an impact socket prevents rounding of the bolt head, using a standard 12-pt socket almost guarantees it.
