Now why they don't change the regen process is beyond me though. Inject the fuel downstream of the engine to fire the DPF instead of washing the cylinder walls down with excess fuel. Noone wants to be original though and keep using failed ideas.

Yep the best solution for this is called a 6.2 gasser. A total complete shame that .gov can get away with destroying a perfectly fine diesel engine. I have a dodge 5.9 cummins with twin Garretts and no emissions. Looking at buying a 2018 SD Ford (I am originally a ford guy from birth) so thinking about a F350, 6.2l, 4.3 axles XLT. I keep hearing from the TX Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) about radically stepped up enforcement of environmental [emissions equipment] on diesel trucks PLUS how deleting destroys a vehicle's resale value. EGR is exactly like a person smoking two packs a day. DPF like the old potato in the tail pipe trick. SCR is well, like **** on it. But by far the two worst egregious offenses have to be EGR and DPF regens.

I had an '11 Ford F250 that kept losing fuel mileage until it was getting down into the high single digit range light truck. All their engineers could not figure out why this was happening. I suspect it was the crushed DEF transport line from shipping that was making the NOx sensors output to the ECM keep adjusting the fuel algo and that damned truck was eating me alive in fuel costs. Sold at a huge loss (tax writeoff) and got my used dodge 2500 which has been a pretty good truck. Well it should be I spent over $65k on upgrades over a few years.

Well anyway the point to this whole story is that EMISSIONS SUCK. The regulatory agencies intend to inflict maximum pain to those who delete. Look over there at that sweet Ford F350 / 6.2 gas engine that will get the job done nicely... BTW loving this forum. You guys rock! Great info to be had here.

So if they removed all EPA regulations tomorrow, and there were no emission regulations anymore, you'd immediately be okay with people rolling coal and blowing black smoke on your family?

I've seen the EPA in action. It's another corrupt government organization. I want a diesel truck that can be tuned, produce low emissions, have no EGR or DPF garbage on it. Sadly, the vehicle manufacturers could have gone this route, but the government got involved.

Oh and as far as carcinogens, oxygen is one. It is the major contributor to all cancers. So better stop breathing.

Uhm actually sugar is by far the major contributor to all cancers. It feeds cancer and makes it explode. BTW, it is rumored that cummins is marketing diesels that no longer need EGR to meet environmental compliance. If that is true, then the other manufacturers should be right there as well?
