Can I make a suggestion on tunes. I really don't think any tune regardless of the vendor. I predict we will see issues over the next year as Ford works out possible kinks in the new drive train. Why risk losing your warranty for a few extra horsepower this early in the life cycle of our trucks?

Of course this is just my opinion.
Cheers,
Joe
Agreed. Not saying the OP would be after this or is the type...but I see a lot of immature people trying to make up for something that typically throw a tune on their truck. It's not a drag racer and it's not a high performance machine in the racing sense. It's a work vehicle. Problem is we have a generation of individuals who instead of taking a fast car and making it faster..they take a vehicle that was in NO WAY meant for racing and try and make it a race car, to the detriment of the vehicle's health and longevity.

I do agree, however I also know in a few years I will more than likely look at tunes. In my experience first gen tunes are more of a beta test. It takes time and testing to get it right, which right now I would not be willing to risk. Powerstroke tunes are more than just 0-60 and I do see a benefit, just far too early. This truck has only been in the hands of tuners for a couple months.
Might be...I do not have that large of a knowledge base on tuning. That being said I honestly think 440HP and over 900 ft lbs of torque is enough for myself.
You have to keep in mind that I reside in GA...the home of the "Bro Dozer" and bro country...and not to far away from where all of these idiots idols are from..those being Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and the aptly named Florida Georgia Line. The amount of idiocy and lunacy with trucks that I see on a daily basis would blow.your.mind. I am being dead serious.

I spent 6 months in Columbus, GA a few years back overseeing construction of a new building both there and Atlanta. Looking at the various trucks around I realized EVERY truck in south Georgia and Alabama was required to have dual exhaust, about 30 inches apart coming straight out the rear with 8 inch chrome tips and some form of glass-pak mufflers, mostly Hush Thrush. Every single truck had flag pole holders for the Saturday games of the various deep south colleges and had a required 150 miles of driving around town on football days with large flags flying with their favorite schools colors. And of course the obligatory confederate flag in the rear window, the Browning buck in various locations and the outright pronouncement of their mental state with the bulls ******* hanging off the trailer hitch. Did I miss anything?

Sounds about right! You forgot all of the lift kits and aftermarket tires though! Oh and now they all have their "Costa" and "Yeti" stickers on the back windows. It's trully a thing of horror to behold.
Didn't mean to get off the tuning. Sorry. With the amount of horsepower and torque produced by the 6.7L PSD I would not ever consider a tuner especially considering the outright warning in the owners manual about individual overriding of the engine performance through aftermarket devices. Even if the tuner has nothing to do with an engine failure the company will take it as an excuse to not replace your 12K engine under warranty. No one on the outside knows for sure what the maximum performance with the current hardware is and even though guys push 600+ horsepower out of these how will it be at 50K miles? Bearings worn through? Rings grooved into the block? Turbo chargers exploded due to over rev? It could be an expensive night at the country road dragstrip.
Saw a thread on here of a guy doing donuts with his 2017 and the rear wheels never stop burning rubber.
Maybe with our 2017's we need to work on traction control, cause they got more power then the rear wheels can handle now. Just saying
I Tuned my 08, but it was mainly to save the engine's life. The regen process roasts those 6.4's. But a nice benefit is the ridiculous amount of power that those engines make without software and dpf restrictions and increased fuel mileage.
I don't plan on ever tuning my 17, but I also said that about my 08 when I got it.
The regen and EGR are both truly horrible for diesel engines. Unfortunately the .gov gets an idea, mandates certain equipment to meet that idea's goal and once that law is on the books you're stuck with it forever. Even if the engineers could get the emissions down without EGR, since it's mandated they have to put it on there.
Now why they don't change the regen process is beyond me though. Inject the fuel downstream of the engine to fire the DPF instead of washing the cylinder walls down with excess fuel. Noone wants to be original though and keep using failed ideas.
