That sounds a lot better than the numbers in post #24. I just checked one of our trucks, and drop from batteries to hot side of GPR is aprx. 0.5V, so I think that's normal. It's the drop between the posts that counts. More than 0.3V means replace the GPR. Sounds like yours is intermittent. I would test it multiple times. If it isn't consistently below 0.3V, consider the Western Plow relay referenced above, or a Stancor (White-Rodgers) 586-902.
so from key off to key on the hot side post goes from 12.3 volts to 10.7 that's a hefty drop. I have a 97 Cali truck but switched to single shot stage ones. Should I have removed the shunt with the different programming maybe?? Idk just throwing out ideas. I'm goin to order the relay just because it's cheap and possibly worth my while. But this still has me puzzled. Well this weekend I'm on emergency standby for work so I just might have to pull valve covers off again and check wiring and what not.
Now that it has gotten chilly in the am my truck has begun hazing on first start. I think its just a result of not being stock. Im not loosing sleep over it.
I think your batteries are weak or not being charged up enough
what voltage do you have when running engine after 5 minutes?
I've been wondering about my alternator, maybe it's not keepin my batteries charged up. The batteries are maybe 2yrs old and are napa gold batteries. I looked at the alt and it seems to be the original but I can't be 100% sure. I will fire it up today and smoke out the neighborhood and check the volts. Another smoke video comin your way. Lol
