You get creative when the winch you rented with the trailer is garbage, the steering box is jammed in a slight turn, and you only have a bicycle tire pump to keep a couple tires aired up. 24 hours later...
All tucked away at the new house. Hopefully here for the long haul.
Hey, thanks. There's tons to do, obviously. The floors and cab braces are terrible, but I bought it because I didn't want to deal with any paint. I learned I hated it after my 65 C10 I had in high school. Original motor is long gone. It's got a 351W and AOD sitting in it from a wrecker, so who knows the state those are in. It'll be a pretty basic build when I'm done. Hopefully Windsor, but 302 possibly, auto, original paint. Disc/pwr brakes up front. I paid more than I wanted to, but the truck comes with a ton of parts, so I should be able to do a fair bit before having to spend a bundle.
Nice and Ilke your plans for it, it`s going to be sweet!
Don`t feel too bad about the price, it happens to all of us.
I`m happy with this 53 M100 I bought last summer, for once I got a pretty decent deal.
I always liked the 53 better than the 56 with the wraparound windshield. There's an interesting truck on kijiji right now. I'm already far enough into mine that I don't want to make a change. Plus, even though the value on unibodies is higher, I like the separate box better. 1961 Mercury unibody short box | used cars & trucks | Regina | Kijiji
I have a quick question for anyone who knows: I've been struggling with the same steering column issue a lot of us have. I really want to use my original column, but it's starting to be more headache than I have the patience for. I've found a guy with a column out of a 76 F150 4x4. He claims the column is the same length as a 2wd, but the steering box is different. Anyone verify if this is true? i don't want to drive 3 hours to find out he's wrong. Appreciate it.
Just realized I posted in the wrong area. D'oh.

Reason: wrong forum
If you can use it you can have it, this truck is pretty well striped and headed for the crusher. I`m pretty sure it has a steering column, if not I may have a loose one laying around.
