Dual Exhaust Help 65 F100 352 4 Speed on the Floor
Seeking opinions and help.
I have a 1965 F100, 352, 4 Speed on the floor. I would like to run dual exhaust all the way to the rear. Can someone give me advice or opinion on what headers I should use? Have read something about "shorties". What brand header is most recommended? What about clearance on the drivers side; any problem with clutch, steering, etc etc.? Any advice would be much appreciated. Also would appreciate you guys sharing your experiences with this kind of upgrade.
Here is a pic.

I used Hooker Super Comp long tube headers on my '66 with (then) 4 speed. I believe JoWilker also used them on at least one of his trucks. They were no different than any other header to install - follow manufacturer's instructions carefully. They make dealing with the starter a bit challenging. I wrapped my starter with a heat resistant mitten to help protect it. I had no issues with interference with steering or clutch linkage and my steering is an upgrade to a 1970 Ford/Saginaw power box. Did have some sealing issues between the cylinder head flanges and the headers that required some special thick gaskets. Other guys on this forum say they like Sanderson headers and that the quality is better, but I have no experience with them so can't comment. Hope this helps.
