Are the rest of the dimensions the same. Are any of the components bigger or heavier in a three ton. I have found a couple of ford pages talking about the different models in 41 with no mention of a three ton? I am just a little confused. are there many three tons out there? Does any one on here have one or seen one?
I have see a mention of a three ton fire truck and that is about it.

From looking at the pic of your truck, the cab, fenders and hood etc. look like the ton and a half 1941 Ford.

Please post some better pictures of a headlight. I cannot tell if it is faired into the fender or on a post and totally separate from the fender (as are 1-ton and 1-1/2 ton trucks) from that angle. I think I see the parking light lens below the headlight which would be on the front of the post. Neither the Green Book nor any other source I've found mentioned anything above 1-1/2 ton. Have you spoken with Chuck Mantiglia of Chuck's Trucks in Hamden, CT? (203) 288-2769 ChucksTrucksLLC.com He is a wealth of information on Ford trucks.

Is that a factory badge or an issued one, like a comp plate, that states how much it can legally haul, or gross? We need a better picture of it.

It looks like a factory badge. I will not see or have a chance to get any more pics of the truck for a long time.
Sorry!

I seem to recall that some of the '40's era Canadian trucks had a plate with the ton rating. I remember years ago seeing some with 1 ton on an emblem. Can you show a picture of the emblem when you can? And I've never heard of a 3 ton truck having specific cabs. I can check my old Ford sheetmetal books, but the cabs should be the same for all sizes.

factory badge

Yes those are factory badges, I have seen them before up to 2 ton, wish I had a set of 1.5 tons for my truck. I have a spare 1 ton badge I keep on the wall.

Thanks everybody for the great info. The truck is with my brother in law. I am just not close enough to verify some of those questions. Hopefully some of this info will help him decide which way this resto will go. I will try to update this project in the spring! I have to admit my enthusiasm for this age of truck has grown incredibly while looking for info!

That's what happens - you get sucked in. Good luck. Maybe your bro-in-law could take some pix for you to post.

We will see what happens he wants to use it as lawn art. I want to restore it. Time will tell, at least with the info we have now some choices can be made.

These photos are from my 1941 Ford truck sales brochure. They point out some of the features of the 3 ton chassis.

Maybe get a copy of FTS'05 By James Wagner. 'Ford trucks since 1905' is the real name. Out of print but I see them on Amazon. I have worn the cover of 2 of them since my dad bought me one for my 19th birthday. Let's just say it starts with genesis.....
