STEERING COLUMN SWAP

I put the Classic Performance Products 400 Power steering box in my '56. Keeping the straight axle. Going to order the IDIDIT tilt column soon. Hoping to compare apples to apples oranges to oranges. Anyone using an IDIDIT column with CPP or a Toyota box that can tell me what they chose for length and column drop. The direct fit IDIDIT column is a 30" and then you have the U-Joint and the steering wheel adapter to consider. I have read several SEARCH posts and did the test fitting recomended by IDIDIT. Still not feeling very decisive. Thanks

A lot depends on your size and seating. I started with a CPP 30" and my belly would not let the column tilt. I replaced it with an Idit 32" and my belly is much happier. If your a little skinny guy then it probably dosen't matter.

I'm trying to figure the length of the column plus the length of the universal joint plus the length of the steering wheel adapter plus the diameter and dish of the steering wheel. Now the belly factor, both current and future. I will try to get an honest opinion of my belly from a "friend". Thanks

Don't know if this will help but here is the serial number for my ididit column if you call ididit they might be able to tell by the number the length. Mine is a 55 and I installed the 400 steering and am happy with it. My belly is in the way but I still have the stock steering wheel. The only question I have is about the spacers between the inside frame rail and the steering box I think I may have to have different thickness spacers . I am anxious to hear how yours turns out oh by the way I have stock axle and the lowering springs from the girls. #232564 or 232964 I think it is a 5 I am reading it form a pic that I took my steering wheel is back on.
