I plan on changing my steering column. I looked at the current one and realized how long it was. I plan on getting a shorter one and possibly a tilt (if the Lord willing). What would be the best setup to get? I plan on looking through the junkyard and was just wondering if I should be looking at a specific vehicle for a good tilt wheel.
If you have a manual steering gearbox or a Bendix power steering gearbox, then youhave a longer column.
If you have a Ford PS gearbox, then you have a shorter column.
Whay are you changing stering columns? I have one from a '72 if you are interested.

well, my dad sees nice ones in the junkyard all the time, and when we switch out the column, we planned on putting in PS anyways, i was just wondering what the best truck is to rob the setup off of, PS box and all.
The swaps from manual to power steering and from drum to disc brakes are very popular on '65 and '66 F-100s. Search the '61 - '66 board for more details. Be careful though, because the steering for your truck is backwards compatible only to '65. Also, be advised that from '65 to '70 Ford used two types of PS boxes. The details were all there, so you should be able to figure it out easily.
From '65 to '79 it is mostly a bolt up, so you've got a real wide rang of choices.
