I'm keeping the stock steering column and steering wheel. I have a plan to mate it to the toyota PS box and keep my column shifter. When I cut it I want to make sure the steering wheel stays where it belongs. I need a measurement from a stock 53-55 F100 steering setup. The length measured along the steering column between the column support clamp and the underside of the "bell" at the top of the column. I appreciate the help.

i have heard of people using a toyota ps box . my dad did ps on his 56 he also used the front clip out of a plymouth volare wierd crazy welding if you have bottomless pockets like what we see on tv anythings possible.
I have a '56 column in mine so it will be shorter. Don't forget a good floor mount as the column drop alone won't hold it steady with a u joint. I fixed my column in my '54.
Can't help with the dimensions, but I'd have a hard time believing the longer Toy box can be used and still keep the column shifter (manual trans, I assume?). Unless it's mounted higher on the '54 column than on BonusBuilts.

Good point, I missed that part. I don't think there's enough room for the stock column shifter, here's my '54 from the firewall to the box.
My truck is a 54 body on a 56 frame. Yes it's tight where the column shift arm linkage is mounted at the bottom of the column but it has been done. Rodding Roundtable :: View topic - Column shift on a F100 power steering conversion
Oldtimer, I am supporting the bottom of the column from the inside but I can't use the nice aftermarket one because the shift tube would hit it. I saved an article from Classic Trucks magazine where they made a new heavier floor plate like you did. MIG welded a short piece of tubing to it at the right column angle. The column goes through it and is clamped.
ALBUQ, once the column is fitted I will be shortening / rebuilding the shift tube using your tech article. I am having trouble finding a new cross pin.
Thank you guys.
How about that dimension? Anybody?
