Hi,i recently removed my original steering column on my 65 f100 .I am going to replace it with an aftermarket tilt that has a chevy style plug,im also going to rewire the whole truck. I sold my original column along with the steering wheel. My question is,Does anybody know how long the original column measures without the steering wheel? The column i want to buy comes in 28" 30" or 32" length.I am trying to match the length of the original .Thanks
I am also replacing my original column with an aftermarket (ididit p/n #1130820020) column. I spoke to ididit directly and was told this series is a direct bolt in. My original column is still in but should be pulled within the next week or so and can measure for you if you still need. If it helps I can measure from the floor board to the steering wheel? But not until Monday.
On a 67-72 truck which is the same as a 65-66, the manual steering shaft is 35 5/8in. The ps shaft is 32 7/8in, the difference being that the saginaw steering box is longer than the manual box.
Thanks for the info, sounds like i need a 32 inch aftermarket column, its closer to what i had.i had installed the sawginaw box so it was a little to close to the seat.I think the aftermarket column can be adjusted and with the mustang type suspension i had installed it should give me enough room .thanks again
