Is there anything else I should do to it while it is out of the truck; preventative problems in the future type way. I know it sounds stupid to fix something that ain't broke but if it makes one less headache for my parents ill do it.
As always i appreciate any advice and input from you all!
Army, really?! Ugh, you should have went into the Marines! Just kidding brother, I did 4 years in the Corps myself (2002-2006). Actually in your case the Navy (Corpsmen) would have been the place to go. Those are some big shoes you're about to fill guy! I thank you for your service, best wishes and GOD BLESS!

Well I didn't get nearly any pictures since mine and Doug's hands were covered in grease the whole time. The motor is out, that took about 11 hours, on Friday, working slow and we spent about 3 hours on the fan clutch...I ended up making my own tool out of a 1 7/8 wrench.($35 down the drain) reason being the fan clutch tool was slightly too big and the nut was slightly too rusty.

DougJ_1997PSD drove about 1.5 hours to come and help me get it done, not only did he show up early but he was ready to work. He even brought his own tools! Good help is hard to find, but this forum doesnt disappoint.

Now time for questions..
water pump pulley, when I spin it, it sounds like the bearing are bad. I cant tell whether the pulley is bad or the water pump. Is it worth pulling the water pump off to look at?
the oil 4 plugs have some metal crap in them that makes it so I cant put an extension all the way in, I haven't tried to take them out yet because the motor is outside and the parts don't get here until tomorrow...hopefully. Do you just get the extension in as much as possible then hope it doesnt strip?
In the pictures below you will see that the coolant passages from the oil c

ooler look...rusty/blemished. whats the call on that?

Rusty

Dirty?

how it sits today

Not sure what 4 oil plugs you're talking about.
Water pump pulley can't really go back. There's nothing between it and the water pump snout.
Replace the water pump.

I pulled the water pump...it made even weirder sounding noise when it was off. metal-metal type noises so i replaced it.
how does this look?

I put the new oil rail plugs on, new oil cooler, which was a lot easier than its made out to be IMO. put the new water pump and fuel lines on.
Dont make fun of the half started primer...it will be black before it goes back in..lol

I spent about an hour getting all the old rtv off the oil pan only to turn it over and see a crap ton of pitted rust so I'm buying a new one tomorrow. it just makes sense since its such a hard job to get to the oil pan.
